Statement from PCNA

Monday, 15 November 2021

Palliative Care Nurses Australia welcomes last week's announcement from the Queensland Government that commissioning starts for community-based palliative care services. The Palaszczuk Government is delivering on their commitment to invest $54.8 million to deliver community based care for individuals with life-limiting illness in regional, rural and remote Queensland.

This will fund critical initiatives to expand and strengthen palliative care services as part of $171 million to be invested in palliative care reforms from 2021-2026 to build capacity of the palliative care system.

PCNA commends the Queensland Government on this significant investment to support future development of palliative care and in particular palliative care nursing.
