Employment Opportunity - Clinical Nurse Consultant (Specialist Palliative Care in Residential Aged Care Project)

Remuneration: Base salary ranging from $4 933.10 - $5 355.90 per fortnight

The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Clinical Nurse Consultant (Specialist Palliative Care in Residential Aged Care Project) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Work closely and collaboratively with other teams, including the Supportive and Specialist Palliative Care Service, other SPACE projects throughout Queensland, and all Gold Coast Residential Aged Care (RAC facilities
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate a service delivery model to increase the capacity and capability of GPs and RAC staff to deliver end of life care
  • Develop and assist with business cases, project plans, progress reports, including development of management plans
  • Support the promotion of pre-emptive planning to avoid crisis hospital admissions
  • Lead quality improvement activities and/or research to improve clinical practice procedures and protocols

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent)
  • AHPRA Registration
  • Driver Licence
  • A Masters or higher qualification within a relevant area is highly desirable
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Hepatitis B and COVID 19
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed

  • Temporary full time (until June 2024, with the possibility of extension)

About Us

The Supportive and Specialist Palliative Care Service provides comprehensive and compassionate care to address specialist palliative care needs for consumers across Gold Coast Health, as well as leading a number of statewide services and projects. A particular focus of this role is SPACE: The Specialist Palliative Care in Aged Care (SPACE) project works in partnership with Residential Aged Care facilities (RACF) staff and General Practitioners (GP) to improve access to specialist palliative care for people living in aged care facilities. This role will be instrumental in continuing to develop a new model of specialist palliative care and ensure project quality outcomes are delivered. This service is located in Southport and Robina.
