About the role

The Department of Palliative Care provides Registered Nurses an opportunity to develop specialist palliative care capabilities through excellent clinical and professional development frameworks. You will initially bed based in the hospice, with opportunities to work in community outreach services as you develop experience in this area of care. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Registered Nurse authorised to practise by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current Evidence Based Palliative Care practice, and its application to patient care within an acute or sub- acute environment
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work within an harmonious collaborative team.
  • Demonstrated ability to critically appraise new clinical situations and environments and plan safe, appropriate patient care with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate/be involved in quality improvement projects using sound planning and evaluation of outcomes.
  • Demonstrated commitment to own personal and professional development as evidenced by personal portfolio.
  • Commitment to the Mission, Vision and Values of Calvary with the ability and desire to uphold these principles.

The Calvary Mater Newcastle is an Affiliated Health Organisation providing services to both public and private patients primarily from the Hunter New England area. Current employees of NSW Health can request to have various leave entitlement balances transferred to Calvary Mater Newcastle on commencement.
