Type of Memberships

Who can join PCNA?

PCNA membership is open to specialist palliative care nurses and nurses in other specialties with a passion for excellence in palliative care. Associate membership is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workers, assistants in nursing, personal carers and undergraduate nursing students.

Advocacy and representation

PCNA has a growing profile for palliative care and political representation. We develop position statements, write submissions to government and provide palliative care representatives on local, state and national committees and working groups. As a PCNA member, your professional expertise can make a valuable contribution to our work in this space.

Special interest groups

PCNA is driving the development of special interest groups (SIGs) that bring together nurses with expertise in a particular discipline area. As a PCNA member, you can join the SIG that reflects your professional interests. As a SIG member, you can broaden your expertise, participate in education and professional development activities, and build networks with other nurses across Australia. These SIGs also provide key contributions to our position statements, submissions and representation work – for example, the chair of our Aged Care Nursing SIG current represents PCNA’s interests on the National Aged Care Taskforce. To date, we host an Aged Care Nursing SIG and a Nurse Practitioner SIG, with plans to bring a range of new SIGs online in the next 1-2 years.

PCNA supports all nurses to continue their compassionate work with the dying person.

This includes AINs, ENs, RNs, research and academic nurses.
