Join the Palliative Care Nurses Australia (PCNA) Steering Committee
Nominations are now open for the PCNA Steering Committee ahead of our Annual General Meeting on Thursday 12 November 2026.
We're looking for passionate PCNA members who would like to help shape the future of palliative care nursing in Australia.
This year, four General Committee positions are open for nomination, including three vacancies and one position currently held by an existing Committee member who intends to renominate for a further two-year term.
The President and Secretary positions are also due for renomination, with both current officeholders intending to stand for another term.
Whether you're early in your palliative care nursing career or bring years of experience, we'd love to hear from you.
An opportunity to develop into the Treasurer role
As part of the 2026 General Committee, there is also an opportunity for someone interested in developing their financial management and governance skills to work alongside our current Treasurer, during 2026–27, with a view to potentially taking on the Treasurer role in 2027.
Katy Long will continue as Treasurer until the 2027 AGM, providing an opportunity for an incoming Committee member to gain experience in financial management, budgeting, reporting and governance, with guidance and support along the way.
Previous Treasurer experience isn't essential - an interest in learning and contributing to PCNA's future leadership is what we're looking for.

Committee commitment
The Steering Committee meets virtually for approximately one hour each month, outside usual work hours. Occasional additional meetings may be required, particularly when planning our biennial conference. Executive members may also be involved in additional discussions and coordination between meetings.
The Committee is supported by a Secretariat that manages PCNA's day-to-day operations, allowing members to focus on governance, strategy and collaboration. Members may also contribute to webinars and other PCNA initiatives depending on their interests and availability.
How to nominate
To be eligible, you must be a current financial PCNA member and maintain your membership throughout your term.
To nominate, simply:
Ask another current financial PCNA member to support your nomination and complete and sign Section 2.
Complete the candidate consent and contact details in Sections 3 and 4, including the QUESTION as part of section 4.
Email your completed and signed form, a short bio (100 words) and a recent headshot to admin@pcna.org.au.
Nominations close at 5:00 pm AEDT on Thursday 5 November 2026.
Nominations will be considered in accordance with the PCNA Constitution, with an election held at the AGM if required.
