European connection, local impact

Palliative Care Nurses Australia (PCNA) is proud to be affiliated with the European Association for Palliative Care (EAPC), the leading voice for palliative care across Europe.

This affiliation strengthens the connection between Australian palliative care nurses and a broader international community working toward the same goal: improving care for people with life limiting illness, wherever they live.

What this means for PCNA members

Through PCNA, members have a direct pathway to engage with the work of EAPC as Associate Members. This opens the door to a global network of clinicians, researchers and educators who are shaping the future of palliative care.

For PCNA members, this means:

  • A stronger professional connection beyond Australia
Be part of an international community of practice, sharing knowledge, experience and innovation across borders.

  • Access to global perspectives and resources
Engage with emerging evidence, policy developments and education coming out of Europe and beyond.

  • Opportunities to contribute to international conversations
Add your voice to a wider dialogue on palliative care, helping to shape thinking and practice at a global level.

  • A deeper sense of belonging within the profession
Being part of PCNA connects you not only nationally, but internationally, reinforcing that this work is shared, valued and evolving.

Belong further with PCNA

This affiliation is one of the ways PCNA continues to build meaningful opportunities for members to learn, connect and grow.

When you belong to PCNA, you are part of a professional community that extends well beyond our borders — built by nurses, for nurses, and connected to a global movement in palliative care.

Supporting global advocacy: European Palliative Care Day 2026

As part of our affiliation with the European Association for Palliative Care, PCNA is proud to support European Palliative Care Day on 14 May.

The 2026 campaign, “Palliative Care: It’s about living, not just dying,” is a coordinated international effort to raise awareness, strengthen understanding, and advocate for equitable access to palliative care.

This work brings together organisations across countries to amplify a shared message: palliative care plays a vital role in improving quality of life, supporting families, and strengthening health systems. It also reinforces that access to palliative care is a policy choice, one that requires clear commitment and action.

As part of this campaign, EAPC has released a policy brief to support advocacy and engagement across the sector. Download the policy paper here

Through this global collaboration, PCNA members are connected to a broader movement working to ensure palliative care is recognised, prioritised and accessible to all.
