About this session

Join us for this PCNA member-exclusive session exploring the foundations of palliative care emergencies.

In this webinar, we will examine the pathophysiology, assessment and management of four common emergencies encountered in palliative care: spinal cord compression, hypercalcaemia, catastrophic haemorrhage and airway obstruction.

This session will provide practical insights into recognising these situations early and responding appropriately, highlighting the critical role nurses play in assessment, decision making and compassionate care during these complex clinical events.

Our presenter, Kelly Stoicescu, is a Practice Development Nurse in the Palliative Care Unit at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. Kelly has worked in oncology and palliative care for the past 14 years as a Registered Nurse and Associate Nurse Unit Manager across New South Wales, the United Kingdom and Victoria.

Kelly is passionate about education and empowering nurses with the knowledge and confidence to deliver high quality palliative care. She has a particular interest in navigating the complexities and grey areas of practice and supporting nurses to provide thoughtful, person centred care in challenging situations.
