Interventional pain management procedures can play an important role in palliative care, but how do we determine when an intervention is likely to help, what outcomes we are hoping to achieve, and how these approaches fit within a holistic model of care?
Join Associate Professor Jamie Young and Clinical Nurse Consultant Ciara Power from the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre as they explore the role and indications for commonly used interventional pain management procedures in palliative care. Through practical examples and clinical insights, they will examine the benefits, limitations and considerations associated with interventional approaches, while addressing common questions from healthcare practitioners.
Designed specifically for palliative care nurses, this session will explore where interventions fit within person-centred care and the concept of Total Pain. Participants will gain a greater understanding of the clinical, psychosocial and quality-of-life factors that influence decision-making, helping them to support informed conversations about treatment goals, expectations and outcomes.
