Palliative Care Nurses Australia acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the many Countries and Island Clusters from which we gather today. We honour enduring connections to Country, culture, kinship and community. We pay our deepest respects to Elders past and present, and acknowledge that sovereignty was never ceded.

We recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as custodians of the world’s oldest continuing living cultures, carrying knowledge, stories and practices that nurture belonging, healing and connection across generations. We honour the wisdom, leadership and resilience that sustain cultural knowledge and responsibilities through families, Elders and communities, creating strong foundations for generations to come.

As a palliative care community, we recognise that every person, family and community is unique. We honour each person’s dignity, voice and experiences across all stages of life, loss and transition. We are committed to culturally safe care guided by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices, leadership and knowledge, grounded in trust, respect and self-determination.

We honour each person, family and community by valuing unique experiences, upholding dignity, compassion and hope. Through connection and belonging, we support healing, wellbeing and the flourishing of generations to come.
