Belong. Every story matters in palliative care

Palliative care is shaped by moments that often go unseen. A conversation that shifts understanding. A moment of trust. Simply being there when it matters.

During National Palliative Care Week 2026, PCNA is creating a space for those moments to be shared.

This year’s theme, “Getting to the Heart of It: Big Questions. Real Answers.”, asks us to reflect on what palliative care looks like in practice and how we speak about it in a way that feels clear and meaningful.

For nurses, the answers to those questions are found in everyday work, in real experiences, and in the moments that stay with us.

If you have a moment that has stayed with you, this is your place to share it. It might be something small or something significant. It might be recent, or something that has shaped the way you work over time. There is no expectation for it to be polished. What matters is that it is real.

You can choose to share your story with your name, or anonymously.

Stories have a way of getting to the heart of things. They help make the work visible, deepen understanding, and show what palliative care looks like in practice. They also create space to reflect, to recognise shared experiences, and to feel connected to others working in this space.

This is part of PCNA’s 2026 theme of Belong. It is a space to reflect on your work, to contribute your voice, and to connect with others across the country.

Every story matters. And your story belongs here.
